Description
Steam distillation for sample preparation for the determination of alcohol, sulfurous acid, volatile acids, nitrogen (Kjeldahl), phenols, sorbic acid in dairy products, ammonium chloride in licorice products…
Electrically heated steam generator with standby heating, combined cooling system, heat-insulated distillation vessel, timer for the distillation time, automatic switching on of the cooling water flow during distillation.
Technical Data
- Sample volume: </= 100 ml
- Timer for distillation: 0,5 – 10 min
- Distillation time: for 50 ml Distillate ca. 5 mi
- Standby heating: 70 W
- H2O vapor heating: + 550 W
- Water vapor storage flask: 1000 ml (min: 200 ml, max 800 ml dist. H2O)
- Housing (L x T x B) mm: 300 x 230 x 460 mm
Advantages
- Device has “basic functions”. Superfluous functions were deliberately avoided. This results in easy and self-explanatory handling. Possibilities of malfunctions and errors are reduced to the “minimum”.
- Only components with a long service life that have been tried and tested in industry for many years are used, for which a long replacement time can be guaranteed, if at all necessary.
- The POLYDEST is the only steam distillation apparatus that has a combined ball-coil cooler: Ball: rapid condensation, coil: effective cooling of the distillate.
- This distillation apparatus is the only steam distillation apparatus that has a heat-insulating Dewar vessel for the sample: the sample heats up faster, the risk of burns for the user is greatly reduced.
- This distillation apparatus purposely has no automatic supply of distilled water (“water pump”). The risk of CO2 entry through the automatic dest. H2O supply omitted (important argument for the determination of volatile acids)
- When the POLYDEST is switched on, the distilled water in the H2O reservoir is heated with the “70 W heating element” so that water vapor is produced as quickly as possible when the “550 W heating element” is switched on.
- Cooling water flow does not begin until distillation is started (solenoid valve opens, 550 W heater activated) and is automatically terminated when the distillation time elapses (solenoid valve closes, 550 W heater turned off). (If cooling water is not sufficient, a “cooling machine” can also be connected).
