Description of the formaldhyde test
Fast Formaldehyde kit is an ideal kit for the presence of added formaldehyde in food (milk, fish, etc.). The only part that changes is the preparation of the sample.
Contents of the formaldhyde test: 50 prefilled tubes with reagent R
Necessary equipment (not provided): Pipette variable volume 100-1000 uL, Water bath, peltier plate or incubator
Milk procedure of the formaldhyde test
Add 500 uL of raw milk in the prefilled tube with reagent R and mix for 5 seconds. Incubate for 3-5 minutes in a water bath or peltier plate or incubator at 50 C. Read the colors formed.
Fish procedure of the formaldhyde test
Cut 1 cm3 of raw fish, mince it, add 5 mL. of water, mix the suspension. Add 500 uL suspension in the prefilled tube with reagent R and mix for 5 seconds. Incubate for 3-5 minutes in a water bath or peltier plate or incubator at 50 C. Read the colors formed.
Interpretation of the formaldhyde test
Fade pink = Pure food with no added formaldehyde
Yellow = Adulterated food with formaldehyde (0.025 %)
Green = Adulterated foof with formaldehyde (9 %)
