Formaldehyde Direct

Quantitative method for formaldehyde detection in biological samples

Categories: , ,

Description

Formaldehyde is the simplest aldehyde. It is widely employed in industry (meat, fruits, fish, water) for wide range of applications, as a disinfectant and is a commonly utilized tissue fixative and embalming agent. Formaldehyde is naturally present in all tissues and body fluids. Recently, it has been shown that some cancer types exhibit elevated formaldehyde levels.

Key features of the formaldehyde test

  • Safe – non-radioactive dosage
  • Sensitive and precise
  • Quantitative dosage
  • Requires the use of a spectrophotometer. wavelength 578 nm
  • The linearity range from 0.5 to 5000 ppm (mg/kg). For higher concentrations, a dilution of the sample x100 is necessary.
  • Validated: high accurate correlation with the official AOCS 897.01 method

Applications of the formaldehyde test

Formaldehyde determination in biological samples, food, water, fish, meat, fruits

Kit contents

  • R1 – 1×10 mL.
  • R2 – 1×10 mL.
